Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a company’s sense of responsibility toward the community and the environment in which it operates. As a proud supporter of CSR activities, AmCham Cambodia has established a CSR Advocacy Committee in order to identify the best approaches to contribute to society. This year, AmCham has prioritized CSR more than ever. In particular, we launched several exciting initiatives to support the community. AmCham allocates 10% of all membership fees for CSR activities. We are excited to announce that AmCham is the first Chamber not just in Cambodia but the region to do so.
In early 2022, we held a Charity Golf Tournament, and in May 2022, Prey Veng province was officially declared as the second mine-free province in Cambodia, in part due to AmCham’s donation to the Cambodian Mine Action Authority.
AmCham sponsored the Final Ceremony to celebrate the success of the young women who have participated in the Women Entrepreneurs ACT Program, which is a five-year project that supports young women entrepreneurs to strengthen their skills, business linkages, and participation with relevant associations.
After our Summerfest event, AmCham donated $5,000 to Indochina Starfish Foundation to provide bicycles and stationery for students. AmCham also partnered with Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh to host a charity networking event, whose proceeds went towards providing cervical cancer screenings for garment workers.
We ended the year with our CSR Excellence Awards in December, where we recognized the leaders of CSR in the country. This year we had the most applications ever – 26 companies, up from just 10 a few years earlier.
