Annual General Meeting

AmCham held its Annual General Meeting at Raffles Hotel Le Royal. We had the honor of welcoming US Ambassador W. Patrick Murphy, H.E. CHEA Serey, Director General of Central Banking of the National Bank of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. BUON Sarakmony, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, our 2020 Board of Governors and all our Members for a fun, informative night.

Mr. Allen Dodgson Tan, President of AmCham, opened the event with the President’s Report to the Members and stressed AmCham’s transparency and growth. Ambassador Patrick Murphy then delivered his Welcome Remarks, in which he acknowledged the strong economic ties between the US and Cambodia and thanked AmCham for its work in promoting business. Mr. Travis Mitchell, Executive Director, discussed the results of the 2020 AmCham Survey and outlined how AmCham will move forward in 2021, prioritizing inclusivity, enhanced communication, sector-specific events, and closer cooperation with the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Finally, Mr. Anthony Galliano, AmCham Treasurer, issued the Financial Report to the Members, where he praised the work of the Board and staff for responding to this year’s challenges and reported that AmCham holds healthy financial reserves.

AmCham then announced the winners of the CSR Excellence Awards 2020. Cambodia Beverage Company Ltd won first place, with RMA Cambodia receiving the Runner-Up Award. Ms. Natalja Rodionova won Social Entrepreneur of the Year for her outstanding work.

AmCham also recognized the outgoing 2020 Board of Governors. Mr. Allen Dodgson Tan, who has served for four years, including two years as President, delivered heartfelt remarks and thanked the AmCham family for their support and proudly declared that AmCham is the strongest it has ever been. AmCham also recognized Ms. Ali Copple, Mr. Anthony Galliano, Mr. Matt van Roosmalen, and Mr. Pily Wong for their service.

Finally, AmCham announced the 2021 Board of Governors. 73 out of 96 eligible Members voted, which is the highest turnout in our history, and there was even a runoff for the final position. The 2021 Board of Governors comprises Mr. Anthony Galliano, Ms. Tean Ly, Ms. Pauline Teoh, Mr. Michael Berg, Mr. Chris McCarthy, Mr. Pily Wong, Mr. Ashley Irving, Mr. Steven Path, and Mr. Sophea Ros. AmCham would like to thank our Members for their support, and we look forward to serving you in 2021!”

Mr. Christopher McCarthy
Chief Executive Officer, MangoTango Asia

I am the co-founder and CEO of MangoTango Asia, a marketing agency in Cambodia that uses creativity and digital media to build value for client like Google, Accenture, Heineken and PPCBank. Since 2014 I have participated in Chamber activities including working with the Royal Government of Cambodia on eCommerce and technology legislation. My career started in large corporations, and then to a series of technology start-ups in Silicon Valley and New York City. I live in Phnom Penh with my wife of 21 years, Nancy Jaffe.

Mr. Pily Wong
CEO, Hung Hiep (Cambodia) Co., Ltd.

Pily, who lived in France (Paris) for over 20 years, is highly involved in the economic environment in Cambodia. He is the CEO of Hung Hiep (Cambodia) Co. Ltd, one of the longest history company in the Kingdom, specialized in distribution of Fast Moving Consumer Goods E&J Gallo Winery (World no.1 selling wines), Cafés Richard (no.1 coffee in France) Selleys (World no. 1 in Silicones and Glues) and Lee Kum Kee (World leading Asian cooking sauces), and in the export of Agriculture Products such as Rice (Awarded Cambodia Best Fragrant Rice in 2016), Pepper, Cashew Nuts and Dried Fruits. He is also the owner of MDP Co. Ltd., an independent system integrator, founded over 12 years ago, specialized in Fintech and Cybersecurity. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Paris VI and a Bachelor’s degree in International Commerce with Asia Specialization from the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations. In 2017, he founded 2 other companies: Brand Protection Services Co., Ltd. and CMS, a property management company, and owner of Wayhome. He is a past President of the French-Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, past Vice-President of the ICT Federation of Cambodia, past Governor of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, past Vice President of the Cambodian Automotive Industry Federation. Now he supports youth and sports being the Vice-President of the Cambodia Motor Sport Federation and being Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia Shooting Federation. In terms of charity, he has joined the Board of Directors of Khmer Sight Foundation.

Mr. Michael Berg
Business Development Manager, RMA Cambodia

Michael Berg joined RMA Cambodia as the General Manager for the Special Products Division in May 2017, where he was responsible for a number of subdivisions and brands, as well as incubating new products. He was in charge of the Material & Handling Division (with JLG aerial/boom lifts from the U.S., TCM Forklifts from Japan, and MS Pallets and Starke racking from Malaysia); Cleaning Equipment (Powerboss and Minuteman from the U.S. and Hako from Germany); and Electrical Testing Equipment (Megger Group from Germany and the U.S.). In December of 2019 he was promoted to Business Development Manager for RMA Cambodia. Mr. Berg has extensive experience in supporting senior leaders in business and the U.S. government while managing several projects, including supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)’s Asia/Pacific International Affairs Division and the multibillion dollar SM-3 development project. Notably, he received various awards such as MDA Contractor of the Year Nominee; MDA Policy Planning Team Award; and DAU Corporate Recognition Award. Mr. Berg has a Master’s in Strategic Security Studies (MA), a Master’s in International Business Law (Llm), and a BA in International Studies with a Minor in Business Studies and a Concentration in Management. He has a distinguished background in international affairs and management, business administration, and law, while providing best-in-class customer service to a broad range of clients. With experience spanning Austria, Armenia, the U.S., and Cambodia, Mr. Berg, a U.S. national, is conversational in French, German, Armenian, and Khmer.

Mrs. Ing Rina
Legal Director, Cambrew LTD

Mrs. Ing Rina is the Founding Partner of Ing Law Office and presently Country Manager of Kelvin Chia Partnership, Cambodia Office. Further, she has also served as a member of the Legal and Justice Council of the Ministry of Justice since November 2020. Rina has over 12 years of experiences advising clients on a broad variety of investment, corporate and commercial matters including banking, real estate, telecom infrastructure, air transportation. She has advised and assisted major and leading multinational banks to establish their presences and obtain relevant banking licenses from the National Bank of Cambodia. She is also well vested in advising banks and off-shore lenders with regards to their complexed crossed border loan transactions. Rina also advises and assists real estate developers to structure their businesses and obtain relevant licenses and permits. She also drafts the relevant project documents implementing such advices. Rina holds a Master degree in real estate law from the Jean Moulin University Lyon 3 in France and is a part-time law lecturer at the Royal University of Law and Economic Science where she teaches in a master degree program related to land and property law. Rina is fluent in Khmer, English and French. She also speaks Thai with a limited professional proficiency level. Rina is passionate about contributing to improvement of the investment and businesses in the Kingdom of Cambodia in compliance with the Cambodian laws and plans and policies of the investors and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Anthony John Galliano
Chief Executive Officer, Cambodian Investment Management

Anthony is Group CEO of CIM Holdings, Chief Executive Office of Cambodian Investment Management, and Chairman of Cambodian Investment Management Audit Services, Phnom Penh BG Serviced Office, Premium Human Resources, Cambodian Investment Management Insurance Agent, Dynamo Innovative Digital Advertising, and Jump Digital (Cambodia). In Laos, he is Chairmen of Star Insurance Broker Sole Co. Ltd. He is also President Director of the Indonesian parent company, Covenant International Management. The primary businesses of the group are Corporate Finance, Venture Capital, Accounting, Payroll, Tax, Human Resources, Insurance Agency, and Serviced Offices. Anthony was a career corporate banker with 27 years’ international experience with ANZ, Citibank, J.P. Morgan Chase and Bank of New York. Beginning his banking career in the United States, he has been stationed in London, Brussels, Hong Kong and Bangkok with Citibank and Indonesia and Cambodia with ANZ.

Mrs. Kim Tol Tan
Vice President
Leadership Coach and Trainer

Mrs. Kim Tol Tan is the Chief Digital Strategy Officer for Prudential Cambodia Life Assurance Plc. She is leading the company’s strategic initiatives to making quality healthcare and insurance services more affordable and accessible to all Cambodians. Kim is responsible for delivering simple digital insurance products and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered healthcare services through Pulse by Prudential (Pulse), a health and wellness digital app. She will also drive digital partnerships to grow the company’s ecosystem of healthcare services to meet the evolving needs of the consumers in the country. Kim has extensive experiences in the insurance, banking and technology industries. Prior to joining Prudential Cambodia, Kim was the CEO of BIMA, the largest micro-insurer in Cambodia. She also held business consultative roles in Wells Fargo in the United States before she moved back to Cambodia in April 2019 to fulfil her passion in driving healthcare and protection in her mother country. Kim is passionate about serving the community by networking and connecting with other leaders to help support issues and causes important to the business community. Mrs. Kim Tan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from The George L. Graziado School of Business and Management, Pepperdine University in California, USA. A Certification for Negotiation and Influence from Emeritus Institution of Management, Singapore in 2017.

Mr. Devin Barta
Country Manager, AHF Products

Devin Barta is a Senior Manager on a multi-year assignment for AHF Products overseeing the expansion of their manufacturing site near Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Devin started his career as an officer in the United States Army and has a extensive experience operating in multi-cultural settings. He then moved into the manufacturing sector culminating in multi-site manager roles in the United States as well as managing IoT and Industry 4.0 initiatives. Devin has experience serving on a couple of boards in Pennsylvania. As a general member on the Central Pennsylvania Workforce Development Board, Devin helped ensure that federal funds were being provided for training and development in targeted industries of the Central PA region. As a board member of The New school of Lancaster, Devin participated on the Committee on Trustees focusing on member development and recruitment, as well as the Advancement Committee promoting the school in the general community. Devin received his B.S. from Marquette University and MBAs from Columbia University and London Business School focusing on International Business and Finance. Devin is married and has two children aged 1 and 5 who are living in Phnom Penh. Devin enjoys spending time with his family and travelling.
