PPIU Profile
Phnom Penh International University (PPIU) was founded in 2002 under the name at that time as ASEAN University. The university has changed to its current name Phnom Penh International University (PPIU) in 2006 by the Sub-Decree No 111/អនក្រ dated 24 October 2006 signed by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
PPIU has four Faculties (Faculty of Business and Tourism, Faculty of Laws and Economics, Faculty of Education Science and Faculty of Science and IT), a Post-Graduate Program (Master’s Degree and PhD), and one Vocational Training Center. PPIU received the new full accreditation by Accreditation Committee of Cambodia (ACC) on 5 May 2020. PPIU was the only university in Cambodia which was awarded in 2018 with the SHARE Institutional Assessment of EU-SHARE Program. And in 2020, because of Covid-19 pandemic, PPIU was able to transform its class-based learning to online learning. For this PPIU has also received the recognition of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport for PPIU online Education on 18 May 2020.
True to its mission to provide knowledge and skills in order to contribute in the development of human resources with ability, quality and high ethics, PPIU has constantly updated the education program so as to be in line with the development and progress of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Our goal is to allow our students to receive education with quality and professional ethics in order to contribute to national, social development.
We will not spare our efforts to provide our students with all the necessary factors for their successful academic life. We continue to have lecturers with many years of teaching experiences, and provide physical facilities (standard classrooms, computer labs, and audio labs) including a very spacious and modern library with link to e-Library. We continue to increase overseas partners within ASEAN and with European Union (EU-SHARE), which would allow our students to join exchange programs, physically and virtually (through the Collaborative Online International Learning – COIL) and gain precious experiences.
So far, PPIU has been able to graduate approximately 10,000 primary and intermediary technical levels, Associate Degrees, Bachelor’s Degrees and Master’s Degrees. Those PPIU alumni are now working in State or private institutions, local and international organizations. And quite a number of them have their own business, of which some are very prosperous.
